Hand Piering

If you want to build a house or you have already started the plans to build a house, then it is good to take note of how best you can lay the foundation. If the soil on where you are planning to build is unstable, then it would be right to fix this problem through hand piering. Soil can be unstable due to a lack of enough moisture. This makes it shrink and become loose, which may not be a good thing to someone who has already built the foundation without checking how stable the soil is.

How to tell if your foundation needs piering?

If the walls around your foundation appear to have cracks or are cracking, then you need to fix it through piering. Most cracks tend to shift the wall or make changes to it, which might not be a good idea.

If you see your walls leaning or tending to lie on one side, then your walls need hand piering. It will take a keen person to note if the walls are leaning. To make this easier, you can opt to use a laser level to measure if your walls are bent or hanging on one side.

If you note that your porch or backyard seems to be further than it originally was, then it might be the right time to ask for a specialist to do the hand piering for you. This can also be triggered if you cannot properly close or shut down your window like you used to before. This might be a clear indication that you need some help before it gets out of hand. Floors moving or becoming sloppy can be another indication that your house might need some professional hand piering.

It might be hard for someone to notice that their house might be moving, but in case you notice this, ensure that you do not waste time in hand piering so that the damages do not go too far.

Advantages of hand piering:

People have stated that hand piering is safe and a very reliable way of fixing your foundation and preventing further damage. It does not require a lot of financial assets to rectify, and you do not have to shift from the house during the piering. This work does not interrupt your day to day activities, and therefore, you can continue to live there as the work is being done. Piering ensures that your house is fully leveled and that it does settle again in the future. It would be stressful to live in a home that you know is not safe to live in, and that’s why hand piering is advised.

Hand piering is easy to do, and one can even do it for themselves as long as the foundation has well been fixed so that it does not settle again in the future. If you cannot do it yourself contacting specialists to do this for you will be advised so that it is done professionally.
