Make Your Lifting Work Easier With Round Slings

Round slings are essential types of slings that are used in lifting various cargos.

What are round slings used for?

1. Ensure the safety of workers engaged in loading and the integrity of the transported cargo.

2. To prevent the swinging of fixed goods (building materials, parts of metal structures and parts of reinforced concrete products), as well as to ensure uniform load distribution.

Incorrectly selected round slings can lead to cargo damage and personal injury.

Round Sling Designs

  • Textile slings:

They are wide ribbons made of fabric, with leather or polyester inserts that provide additional strength and increase the life of the product. This type of slings is normally used when transporting goods due to their mobility and flexibility. It plays a large role when moving fragile and rapidly deforming objects (building materials, stone slabs, etc.). Textile round slings are used to move light loads of not more than 5 tons.

  • Benefits of using textile round slings:

  • Ease of use - these round slings have the smallest weight compared to other types of slings, especially metal ones. Therefore, one person can easily handle the movement of even bulky heavy cargo, while 3-4 people will be needed when working with metal slings. This contributes both to saving time for loading goods and saving labour resources.

  • Cargo integrity - the soft construction of these slings allows you to transport even fragile items without affecting their appearance and shape.

  • High wear resistance and strength - due to the high elasticity and flexibility, textile round slings easily take the form of a load and return to their original state quickly, while metal slings quickly lose their strength and break due to constant bending. Such high resistance to deformation, as well as the fact that it is not exposed to aggressive environments, guarantees a long service life, which is one of the most critical indicators for such equipment.

  • Safety of workers - structurally textile round slings do not have sharp corners and edges, which guarantees no personal injury while working with the load.

  • Rope slings:

Other popular round slings are rope slings. They are suitable for working with all types of loading machines like winches, cranes, etc.

They are made in the form of two or more ropes connected by steel rings, depending on the method of processing the ends of the rope. These slings are divided into two groups:

Those that are pressed with aluminium bushings on special hydraulic presses are made of rigid rope, have a low dead weight and can withstand heavy loads. Therefore, they are mainly used for central lashing of luggage, as they are especially resistant to axial loads and wear

Slings that are "weaved" manually from a soft rope or on specially equipped machines, therefore, are used to wrap cargo.

The main advantages of rope round slings:

  • Strength and durability - made from metal fibres. They can withstand loads of up to 100 tons. They can work even at temperatures from -60 ° C to + 40 ° C (and with a steel core, the upper limit expands to + 150 ° C).

  • Safety - the destruction of rope round slings occurs gradually, which is visible. Therefore, the rope, which began to wear out, can be replaced immediately, without waiting for the accident to occur.

To sum up, round slings are highly used nowadays in the transportation industry. They are mostly needed to lift cargo and other elements.
