Those machines were invented since the 1800s and they are mandatory to be present in every shop that stores food or drinks to keep them in a low temperature.

For example, meat that is kept in the refrigerator can last up to 5 days. If you keep it longer than this, microorganisms will develop and the meat is going to decay.

Although, there are sources that suggest that meat that has been continuously frozen can be kept forever. But it is not advised to keep meat frozen for more than 12 months. Keep in mind that refrigerators work better, per total, if they are full and not empty. Being full will preserve better the cold when hot air from outside reaches in.

According to Guinness Book, the largest refrigerator in the world is 27 kilometers long, was invented in 2008 and uses 10,080 tones of liquid nitrogen for cooling.
