Why Mobile Cranes Are The Preferred Choice Over Its Traditional Counterparts

A mobile crane is generally crawler mounted cable controlled cranes or mounted on carriers with rubber tires, or a hydraulic powered crane mounted on a truck shaped carrier with a telescopic boom and any other form of the model which is self-propelling.

Mobile cranes are designed for simple transportation to the site, aid movement within the site, are suitable for handling various forms of cargo, load and can operate without any additional assembly or set-up requirements.

Mobile Crane Hire is often preferred over their traditional counterparts for the following reason

Easy Deployment and Withdrawal from Site

Traditional cranes are often transported to the site on trailers, and additional arrangements are required to be made towards unloading of the crane from these trailers which means hiring another lifting or crane service for unloading your crane at the time of arrival at the site.

Also, at the time of withdrawal from the site, traditional crane once again is required to be loaded on transportation trailers which will require the hiring of another lifting or crane rental service towards loading of the crane for transportation. This additional cost of loading and unloading crane can prove expensive and add additional cost to your project.

Whereas, in the case of a mobile crane hire, most of these cranes can be driving to the site on its own and does not require any additional loading and unloading activities.

Ease in Assembly and Mobility

Many forms of traditional cranes are immobile, and constantly need to be assembled before they can be used and operated and then need to be dismantled and reassembled again in case the crane is required to be shifted to another location within the same site.

Whereas in the case of a mobile crane hire, these cranes require very little or zero assemblies, can easily move from one location to another within site by simply driving itself like any other truck or trailer.

Hence this saves a lot of time towards deployment of cranes from one location to another within site and hence, in a project where a crane is required to be used in multiple locations, project managers prefer mobile crane hire over traditional cranes.

Suitable of Rough Terrain

Most traditional cranes are not suitable for lifting in rough terrain and the rough and uneven surfaces as they require a strong foundation or footing to ensure safe operation and lifting as an uneven surface can disrupt the centre of gravity of the crane causing it to collapse.

Most projects, especially greenfield projects prefer mobile crane hire over traditional cranes as, during various stages of the project, the projects are executed on rough terrains and uneven surfaces. Mobile cranes can easily move within construction sites with the rough and uneven terrain. Mobile crane hire is also preferred for lifting activities in rough and uneven terrain as mobile cranes can easily and safely lift in such difficult terrain with a simple modification in its jacking system and settings.
